Key Takeaways
The scoop block involves the backside guard and the center on the backside of an inside or outside zone play.

The center takes a check step and works through the play side half of the defender.

The backside guard should have an open step on his check step and work to get his head across the defender.

The center should work to keep his outside hand free, his shoulders square, and aim to work up to the linebacker.

The running back needs to be on the same page as the offensive line to help press the defenders and block them.
