Naked Bootlegs - Chad Johnson

The video below provides diagrams and concepts along with his narration of game film that shows actual application of the principles to run Naked Bootlegs.

Head Coach Chad Johnson of Mission Viejo (CA) High School gives you access to their Naked Game out of the Multiple Spread System from Glazier Drive.  The video is one of 30 lessons in the entire Multiple Spread Offensive System.

Naked Bootlegs are a great way to change the launch point and get an athletic quarterback out of the pocket.

All of Mission Viejo's nakeds are based off the best outside zone run plays.

Keep the tight end on the side of the bootleg in to block down on the defensive end. Once your QB clears the pocket, the TE can be used as a check down.  The term is STAB (stay in and block)

Another way to bootleg is to bluff the Defensive End in a split zone look with your Tight End.  The end will then slide into the flat gaining width before depth.

For your nakeds to be effective, they cannot be your base play every time. You need to dress it up.  Run it out of different formations and different motions.  The more you change it up, the better results you'll see!
