Written by Glazier Football | Nov 9, 2024 3:46:02 PM

Minnesota D-Line Coach Winston DeLattiboudere discusses how he sets the foundation for a defensive lineman's footwork ("The foundation") with his jab series technique and drill.

The objectives of the jab series are:

  1. Get the OL to sit and shoot their hands
  2. Freeze his feet
  3. Execute the move by thinking "crossover" in basketball
  4. Set the stage for the Bite and Go and Jab Ole moves

The complete presentation that this video is taken from is available on Glazier Drive at: D-Line Hips & Hands (Fight)

The rush is the overwhelming feeling you get when causing havoc in the backfield. TFLs, sacks, or QB hurries are all products of the rush. Your job as a(n) (Fill in your school) is to constantly and consistently push yourself to capture "the rush."

3 Phases of the Rush

  1. The Flight (Get Off)
  2. The Fight (Your Move)
  3. The Finish (Bend-Close)

The Fight Defined (Hips *& Hands)

The fight will be the move (or moves) that you use in order to defeat an OL and get to the QB. Your goal during this phase of the rush is where we create space.
