You use this technique in passing situations when the offensive lineman is over protecting his inside.
The object to this drill is to teach the defensive lineman, when rushing the passer to out run and quick the offensive blocker. To force the blocker to back pedal quickly.
a. Drill Technique
1. Explode on movement of football.
2. Attack the outside tip of the shoulder on blocker.
3. When blockers slides to intercept defender, deliver a rip under blockers outside arm pit.
4. Drive upfield by applying inside pressure.
5. Release:
a. Rip arm under and inside pressure should allow you a path to the quarterback.
b. If blocker rides you past the quarterback don't come back inside until the blocker has driven you 1 1/2 yards past the quarterback
