Defensive Line Ladder Drill 2

Defensive Line 1 & 2 Foot Ladder Drills

Defensive Line Ladder drills courtesy of Coach Jerry Campbell

Defensive line ladder drills help train linebacker’s speed and agility, helping to improve your overall defense as a team.

The 2 feet drill has your linebackers hitting each square with one foot. Players should keep their eyes focused on the coach, not looking down at the ladder. Run with high knees with hands and arms pumping.

Coaching Points:

  • Always have your players finish through the ladder with a hard 5 to 10-yard sprint.
  • The running ladder can be made of plastic or metal pipe
  • Running ladder should be approximately 6 feet wide
