Defensive Line Ladder Drill 1

Defensive Line 1 & 2 Foot Ladder Drills

Illustration of DEFENSIVE LINE LADDER DRILL 1

Defensive line ladder drills help train linebacker’s speed and agility, helping to improve your overall defense as a team.

The one-foot drill has the linebackers running through the ladder with one foot in each square to one side of the ladder. The LB’s eyes should be focused on the coach while they run with high knees, hands, and arms pumping.

Coaching Points:

  • Always have your players finish through the ladder with a hard 5 to 10-yard sprint.
  • The running ladder can be made of plastic or metal pipe
  • Running ladder should be approximately 6 feet wide
