Attending clinics and watching videos is not just about adapting schemes that other programs are using.  It is also about stimulating your thinking to a new level.

In our video, Frank Delano, 6-time state championship coach Frank Delano of Haddonfield High School (NJ) discusses variations of their dive play and their interior run game.  He offers insights into how he thinks about play design and offers alternatives to use against several defensive schemes.

Advantages to Man Schemes:

  1. Hat for a hat
  2. Big on big mentality
  3. Demeanor play
  4. Attitude
  5. Builds a toughness in the offense

Disadvantages to man schemes:

  1. Movement by the defense
  2. Match their box count
  3. Usually--loss of double teams
  4. Who has the advantage up front?
  5. Some cases loss of leverage or angles
